Wwell, the 2011 legislature is roaring again and the PTA has been following many bills that pertain to the safety and welfare of children. We are very concerned that they adopt the governor's budget this year. We know we are fortunate to live in UTah where our constitution demands that we have to balance the budget on the last day of the leg. So you just have to know how hard they are all working down at the capitol.
One of the best things for me is that Shirley, my sister, is a page in the senate. SO whenever I go down I get to sit on the floor and she can talk quickly once in awhile. All of the other pages are so good to me also.
I find politics exhilerating and intriquing, I don't like dirty politics though. It is so interesting to see the different ways you can go about trying to get something done. I really admire those who go into public service without a personal agenda, they sacrifice so much.
I am also getting about 16 students ready for the Heber V alley Piano Festival. It has been difficult this year as our chief benefactor, Bob Donahue, moved and all of his influence has been dropped in getting money to run our program. I think we are going to be able to do it though. Adalee is working hard I know to learn all of her five pieces.
Adam and Adalee have been here the last two nights and it was so nice to have them here.
Better go be productive.

De Poor Utah Legislature
I have been very busy following some bills pertaining to the safety of Utah children. I have had 7 gang bills and so far they are progressing nicely. Some have even made it through. Senator Greiner from Ogden has been the key sponsor and some have been from Rep. Wimmer. The reason it is Sen. Greiner is that he is the chief of police in Ogden City and knows just how bad the gang problem is first hand.
My biggest battle each day are the snow storms and getting to SLC safely. The other part that is difficult is my teaching schedule, which starts early in the morning and then I have to be back by 2:30 or 3:00 each day.
Plus I am getting over twenty students ready for the piano festival March 20. What stress!
The legislature if struggling with cutting funds in every part of Utah government. I am very glad I am not a legislator at this time. If a bill has a fiscal note with it, consider it dead. Anyway, I am sure you don't want to hear all this especially when some live in Idaho and Alaska. oh, and Wyoming. At least we are not in debt like California. IT is a state law that the budget must be
balanced by midnight on the last day of the legislature. Good for Utah!!!!!

Chugg Sisters Trip to St. George and Baby Josie
Last weekend Connie, Shirley , Jane and I went to St. George for a sisters' trip. We stayed at Shirley's palatial home in Ivins and enjoyed the beautiful blue skies and red hills of Dixie. We viewed movies and ate out and talked. We even found Dale and LaRita on their way home to Farr West and had dinner with them.
It was a great break from our hard winter up here in Midway. The other wonderful thing that happened was Clair and Lisa were there also visiting Tyron and Sloan. The reason being that Sloan just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl they named Josie. Clair had used a business trip and brought Lisa with him to be able to do all this. They are wonderful grandparents, traveling many miles to see those little kids. Sloan did great and Ty was over the moon with happiness. I even got to hold the little baby.
